Gomel Youth Theater opened its first season of 13 October 1992 premiere of "Strangers in the Night" C. Stratieva. It was founded by a native of Gomel Gregory Figlin - Moscow businessman, philanthropist, and a patriot of Belarus. He wanted to give his hometown something significant and decided to give the theater.

The original name was the independent theater, the artistic director and director - James Natapov. In July 1995, it was a tragic event, nearly ruined young theater - under mysterious circumstances, was killed in Moscow to finance the work of the theater Gregory Figlin. Some time cared about the theater sister of Gregory Figline director Galina Shofman. Despite her valiant efforts, funds still not enough, and in 1998 raised the question of closing the theater.

In 1998, at the request and under the care of artists on the city budget theater took Gomel mayor Alexander Serafimovich Jacobson. In 1999 the theater was renamed the Gomel City Youth Theatre-Studio.

Performances of the Gomel Youth Theater marked by awards at "Slavic theater meetings". The theater puts on performances of dramatic modern Belarusian, Russian and foreign authors. The theater play performances, not only for adults but also for children. In the year of theater making 4-6 new productions.

In 2012, the theater was 20 years old. The team noted the anniversary fun skits and promises to delight his audience further original memorable theatrical performances. At Gomel Youth Theater still do not have a room. He has to rent space and to give a considerable amount of room for rent.
