By 1845 in the Orthodox shifted about 120 Latvians, in connection with which Bishop Filaret, in January 1845 I sent a petition on to highlight the parish to carry out services in the Latvian language. In 1867, the funds that were provided by the government to the needs of the parish, was built the second church cemetery - the Ascension, designed for 500 people. At the end of 1875 in the Church of the Intercession was a fire, which destroyed the temple. In 1879 he was consecrated the newly built St. Basil temple, after which it enters Russian part of the parish. In Soviet times, the Ascension church was operating here regularly held worship at the temple tried to close.
