Frescoes, paintings, sculpture and architecture - Lankasilaka Viharaya is certainly worthy of attention. Built Parakramabahu the Great, who ascended the throne in 1153. and remained in power until 1186, Lankasilaka Viharaya has incorporated the best features of Sri Lankan style of architecture, better known as the temple architecture of the Sinhalese. The temple also has undergone some renovation during the reign Dabadeniya in the 13th century.
In this temple is a lot different and gives an advantage over other tourist attractions in Kandy. Let's start with the fact that this is an unusual architectural variation, based on the total of all Buddhist temples style. It can be seen as an abstraction through murals and sculptures into something clear and distinct. Giant statue, or rather its remains, is a prime example.
Before the main entrance to the temple is a hall for preaching coated flat tiles, as opposed to the usual semi-circular tiles, it is used to cover the central part of the roof and create beautiful patterns. Two large images of lions and two figures guards standing facing each other, the walls decorated with two short corridor leading to the house of spirits. Inside the house spirits magnificent relic - the twelve-foot Buddha image under the beautiful Makar Toran?% B.
It is surprising that the temple was built from the same mountain range. In fact, if you look closely you can see the notch in the rock used in the creation of a Buddha statue. A striking feature of Lankasilaka Viharaya is that the temple is connected with the house of the spirits (five-storey building from the front).
What you can see now - only remains of the original temple of luxury, yet they fascinate tourists.
