In the center of the town of Czech Plaza back in 1144 it was founded by the famous PLASKE monastery where the monks of the Cistercian Order of the disposed. Its creator, to finance the construction, it is considered the royal couple - King Vladislav II and Gertrude Babenbergskaya.
At the time, the land around the monastery were swampy, rich, therefore, of such possessions, few dreamed. Only a year after the founding of the monastery there were the first monks. Only 9 people dare to live in such inhospitable lands. However, the Czech king decided to support the brave men and presented them to the abbey itself, and 4 villages in the district. Prague Bishop supported the initiative of the ruler, and donated to the monks even 5 villages. Thus, Plaska monastery turned into a rich monastery, which grew and prospered, to acquire all the new estates, bringing a good income. Cistercians strongly supported them subordinate to the village, as well as to invest in the construction of barns and outbuildings on the monastery grounds. In 1154 here was erected the Romanesque church of the Assumption of the Virgin.
In 1785, Emperor Joseph II dissolved the monasteries and closed the temples, which are not conducted educational activities. Under this category fell and PLASKE Abbey. The monks were expelled from the country, and in the buildings of the monastery settled soldiers. Now, under the arches of the holy orders of commanders sounded.
Now the monastery is protected by the Czech authorities and a museum, which will be interesting for curious tourists.
