The landscape park "Alexandria" Peterhof is located east of the Lower Park, separated by a stone wall, cut through Feral, St. Nicholas and the sea gate, on the other hand has a common border with manor Znamenka. The northern boundary of "Alexandria" runs along the shore of the Gulf of Finland, south - along the highway Saint Petersburg - Lomonosov (Oranienbaum).
The park is 115 hectares. Seaside landscape park "Alexandria" is situated on the 2-terraces: the lower (coastal) and the top on which were built the main building of the palace and architectural ensemble of the pack "Alexandria": Farmer's Palace, the palace "Cottage" and Capella.
The landscape of the area allowed to form all sorts of picturesque landscapes, which are replaced by meadows and hills, deep ravine and gentle slopes, narrow winding paths and broad tree-lined avenues. The unique charm of the landscape in "Alexandria" brings the sea which can be seen from many points of the park.
A distinctive feature of "Alexandria" - a variety of green spaces. Here grow oaks, lindens, birches, maples, poplars, ash trees. You can find a lot of unique, exotic shrubs and trees. Open green fields are replaced by groups of shrubs and trees. For several decades, "Alexandria" was enriched with various kinds of decorative details: gazebos, sculptures, guardhouse, where they are elements of Gothic architecture. For example, near the palace "Cottage" installed "Gothic sofas" with high backs. And now near the palace you can see the skillful execution green metal gazebo.
Sublimely romantic nature park attached and the ruins of a bridge which was thrown across a deep ravine. After World War II from the ruins of the bridge survived the east abutment and 2 pedestal with huge vases made of stone pudostskogo. The bridge was so named because during its construction still remained near the ruins of the Menshikov Palace.
According to the composite design, the rational use of terrain, selection and layout of plantations "Alexandria" is an excellent example of the park landscape style and is one of the outstanding monuments of Russian landscape architecture of XIX century.
The main compositional axis of the park is St. Nicholas avenue that crosses it in a straight line from west to east - from the homonymous gate in the wall made of stone, before the big pond, where it connects to weave a few alleys and skirting the pond goes to the eastern boundary of the park. St. Nicholas Park alley separates the northern and southern regions: the coastal and mountainous. Other road "Alexandria" characterized by tortuosity characteristic landscape park construction. Alley created subtle calculation which can be considered the most successful landscape with viewpoints that give the illusion of space volume, diversity and extent of the natural environment.
