Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts - home to the Western Australian venue for exhibitions of visual arts and performances of different cultural groups. Located in a building with cultural and historical value, PICA is for the promotion of contemporary art to the masses. The building, constructed in 1896, during the first 40 years of its history the city has been a school for boys and girls, then a school for boys only (until 1958), part of the technical school, and finally, in 1988, became the exhibition center.
Throughout the year, in PICA conducted a variety of activities - exhibitions, performances, film screenings, presentations and more. It also implements educational programs designed to strengthen the relationship between art and the public. Today, PICA has played a key role in the cultural life of the community of Perth, helping artists at different stages of their careers.
