Geraki - a small town in the southern Peloponnese, about 40 km east of Sparta. The town is located at the foot of Mount Parnon on the site of an ancient settlement Gerontres. History, culture, tradition and architecture of the old city is quite a lot of interest. During the archaeological excavations revealed that the first settlement on the site of Geraki existed in the Neolithic period. In ranneelladskoy period is probably located a administrative center, as evidenced by the number of discovered architectural fragments, similar to those that have been found by archaeologists during excavations of Lerna.

In the Middle Ages Geraki flourished and is an important link between Mystra and Monemvasia. In the early 13th century, after the Peloponnesus was conquered by the Crusaders, there was founded one of the twelve baronies Achaean principality - Barony of Geraki.
