Perhaps nowhere in the world there is no more space in which there are just three of the monument to close relatives. In Paris there is one. It bears the name of General Catroux, but could be called three Dumas area - there are monuments to writers Dumas father and Dumas fils, and the oldest - the father of his father - General Dumas. They did not huddle nearby, the area is very large, in fact it is the intersection of two avenues. Monuments are on the lawns around the junction. Places so much that was enough for the fourth statue - Sarah Bernhardt.

Alexander Dumas looks very picturesque. This monument, which opened in 1883 - the latest work by Gustave Dore. On a high pedestal is located in an armchair author of "The Three Musketeers" with a contented smile on his face, a pen in his hand. At the bottom of one side of the pedestal sits motley company - working barefoot, boy Raznochinnaya type and girl reading the book aloud to them Dumas. On the other hand on the pedestal in the calling Russell pose with a naked sword protagonist Dumas - D'Artagnan.

Monument to Alexander Dumas fils was made in 1906 on the other side of the square. The sculptor René de Saint-Marceau introduced a playwright reflects on the manuscript, too, with a pen in hand. Father and son immortalized it is not by chance, they lived near the father on the Boulevard Malesherbes, the son - on the avenue Villiers.

The statue of the oldest, General Dumas, was erected on the square in 1913 after a long fundraising campaign waged by Anatole France, and Sarah Bernhardt.
