Heřmanův Městec - a small but very nice and cozy town near Chrudim - received its name in honor of the founder - some Gerzhmana Lichtenburg, who was charged with the development of land around the castle Lichnice. In 1280, he laid the first stone in the foundation of the house around which after some time and raised Heřmanův Městec.

The city was founded on a strategic location - on the road on which constantly cruised merchant convoys. When in 1325 of Heřmanův Městec is mentioned in chronicles, then write about it as a rich, prosperous village. In the XV century, in the town there is a wealthy Jewish community, which is actively involved in trade operations and contributes to the economic development of Heřmanův Městec.
