Recently renovated, the church Ghimbav, built more than two centuries ago, the yellow-brick and coral, is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines. It has always attracted the locals, and in recent years has also become one of the major tourist attractions in the province of Iloilo and the entire Western Visayas region.

The church was built in 1774 under the leadership of the Spanish priest Father Campos .  Most churches in the province of Iloilo were built in a neoclassical style, and the church Ghimbav is a typical example of baroque architecture .  The builders of the church have focused on the quality of his creation, not its size .  It is worth noting that, despite the fact that the overall style of the church Ghimbav - is, as mentioned above, the Baroque, it contains the elements and other styles .  For example, support and round window-sockets have several views of the east, and columns - Corinthian definitely .  The spiers at the top of the church evoke associations with Moorish temples, while the turret-like finials for the same in other churches Iloilo .  The original bell tower was replaced by a new, and, unlike other late additions, perfectly fit into the style of the church .  Throughout its history, the church Ghimbav repeatedly subjected to restoration and repair work, but the inner core remains unchanged - reflecting the strength of construction .

To reach the church Ghimbav, located in the eponymous village, can be from Iloilo - the road will take about half an hour. Once this amazing church attracted attention when its bell rang the alarm bell. Today, it attracts with its history and beauty.
