Unusual tower of wooden planks is not so much an observation post, which is now used as a viewing platform, as a stylized monument, designed to remind of past glorious times. Tower height of 5 meters was built on the hill Landek around on the site of an ancient fortress, rises immediately after 1253.

The fortress, but rather a fortified settlement appeared here on the orders of the Czech ruler after the devastating attacks of the Mongols and troops controlled the princes of neighboring countries. The purpose of the castle was to protect the border areas against any encroachments of the enemy. Czech king also gave orders to build these castles in other suitable locations along the border.

The first mention of the fortress Landeck we meet in 1297. Unfortunately, the wooden fort was unable to withstand the ravages of time, so gradually destroyed, dilapidated and in 1518 turned into a pale shadow of himself. Currently, from the ancient fortifications remained only a small fragment of the wall.

In 1998, enthusiasts have decided to romance in memory of the former greatness of the fortress, which once adorned the local places, build a tower that would be reminiscent of his appearance guard structures of ancient settlements.

Tower Landeck included in one of the tourist destinations. It is located on the trail near the museum dedicated to the craft miners. On the tower you can climb to see myself beautiful city of Ostrava and its scenic surroundings.
