Skyscraper Umeda - not the tallest building in the world, and not even the highest in Japan. Among the Japanese high-rise buildings it occupies only 44th place, closer to the end of the list. But it has its own characteristics, for which the giant is one of the most interesting sights of the economic center of Osaka.

This 173-meter high building is considered to be only the seventh highest in Osaka. It is located in the area of Kita-ku and consists of two 40-storey towers. The author of the project is a skyscraper Japanese architect Hiroshi Hara. According to the original plan of interconnected towers should have been four, in this embodiment, the project was called "Air City". For reasons of economy in the difficult years were built only two towers that are in the vicinity of the upper floors connected by bridges and escalators located diagonally into the glass "pipes." Prior to the 35th floor and gives a lift, and then on the 40th floor, where the observation deck, they raise the escalators, they are considered the most high-rise in the world. Ride on such an escalator can be equated to the short flight.

On the roof of the building is an open area, called the "floating gardens" because her via spraying water through nozzles creates the effect of fog or clouds.

On the ground floor of a skyscraper is a restaurant, the interior of which repeats the shape of the Japanese streets beginning of XX century - the early Showa period. Around a park skyscraper.

The building was designed in the late 80s of the last century, its construction involved in the company Takenaka, to complete the construction in 1993.

District Kita-ku located in the northern part of the city, also called "New Town Umeda." In this area are the main station in Osaka, offices, shopping centers and hotels are located, including other high-rise buildings. All of them were built relatively recently, so this part of the city distinguishes an abundance of modern buildings, sometimes very futuristic look.
