Beautiful and bright Ram Raja Temple is a real gem of the city of Orchha, located in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. This is the only temple in the country, the palace dedicated to the god Rama.

It was originally designed as a palace for King Madhukar Shah Orchha and his wife. According to legend, the king worshiped God Krishna, while the queen prayed Rama. Madhukar Shah often teased because of it over his wife, and tried to convince her that she was wrong. But the Queen was adamant and even next to the palace ordered to build a temple in honor of Rama.

Once the queen has decided to make a pilgrimage to the city of Ayodhya (the birthplace of Rama). There it was a miracle - it was the frame itself, which she asked to follow with her in Orchha, to prove his innocence to her husband. Rama agreed, but on condition that he would become the ruler of Orchha Madzhukara Shah instead. The Queen gave her consent. Then Rama followed her into the city in the form of a little boy. And when they returned to the palace, he turned into a statue. They wanted to move to a new church, but to the surprise of people no one was able to even slightly move it. Therefore, the article left the palace, which later became a temple. He was named Ram Raja (Raja), which means "ruler Rama" - thus, Rama was a real "king" of the city, as promised his wife Madzhukara Shah.

Ram Raja is a bright quadrangular structure with a huge, marble-paved courtyard, lots of huge halls, long corridors and high colonnades. It attracts a huge number of tourists who want to live to see this legendary temple-palace.
