Igor Kurchatov monument is a bronze image of the well-known nuclear physicist, father of Obninsk, the head of "Atomic Project". Long before the monument to Kurchatov, on a triangular area laid a stone with an inscription denoting the place of the future monument.

The monument was proposed by sculptor Oleg K. Komov. This image Kurchatova, unlike the existing ones, and the chamber was not enough could be located at a large triangular area. So we decided to install it in the square next to the street Kurchatov TsIPK.
