Boris and Gleb Church or Cathedral of the holy martyrs, the pious martyrs Boris and Gleb, - the ancient temple city of Novogrudok. Its initial version was built in the XII century. The church was chetyrehstolpnyh, trehaspidnoy, enclosed gallery. The walls were painted with frescoes, and the floor is paved with stone tiles.

In 1317, the church became a cathedral and it was called a monastery. In 1451 the monastery was visited by Moscow Metropolitan Jonah, who after his death was canonized as Saint Jonah.

In the XVI century, hetman of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania Duke Konstantin OSTOJSKI allocate more money for the reconstruction of the temple. The works were performed under the guidance and with the blessing of Metropolitan Joseph Soltan. The new church had the shape of a ship.

After Brest Unia in 1569 the church was handed over to the Uniates. In 1632 the church was rebuilt in the style of Sarmatian Baroque. After the reconstruction, it also acquired a defensive structure. In those turbulent years, most temples were able to protect themselves and those who are hiding behind their walls. On the facade there towers with loopholes. In 1625 there was founded the male Basilian monastery. Great help in the reconstruction of the temple and the construction of the monastery had Adam Hreptovich. Under the temple, he founded the tribal family tomb.

In 1839, when Novogrudok becomes part of the Kingdom of Poland in the Russian Empire, the majority of Catholic churches and monasteries were closed. Restoring historical justice, the Cathedral of Sts return of the Orthodox Church. He was again rebuilt in the popular in those years, pseudo-Russian style.

In 1924 the church was again reconstructed. Its architecture has lost jewelry inherent in pseudo-Russian style. In Soviet times, the cathedral was closed, the building housed the state archives.

Orthodox Church of the ancient temple was handed over in 1996. Now there are Orthodox shrines: the icon of the Mother of God Novogrudok, the icon of the martyrs Boris and Gleb.
