The first Russian theater that arose in the country in the post-revolutionary period is the Nicholas Academic Art Russian Drama Theatre, which is located in the historic city of Nikolaev, at the intersection of Admiralskaya and Lyagina. The building - an architectural monument, which houses the theater was built in 1881 by Karl Ivanovich Monte wimp by architect T. Brusnitskaya. The current creative team of the theater - it's one of the oldest theater companies in Ukraine, which was organized in 1922 in Lugansk Russian director and actor G. Svobodin.
Rectangular building Nicholas Theatre is a structure with the dominant volume of stage box. Its facade is made in the pseudo-Renaissance style. The main entrance stands a monumental six-columned portico, which was erected after the war.
At various times in the theater were such theatrical figures as V. Komissarzhevskaya, M. Savina, AP Orlenev, Dalsky M., F. Chaliapin, L. Sobinov, V. Meyerhold, P. and M. Kropyvnytskyi Saksagansky.
In 1896, the theater held the first session in the city of Nikolayev cinema. For twelve years the troupe had the status of a mobile theater "Shahtёrka Donbass". In 1927, the Moscow magazine "Modern Theatre" noted "Shahtёrku Donbass" the most serious of Russian theaters of Ukraine. After some time, the team has been granted the right to specify in their posters - "Art Theatre of Ukraine." In 1934-1935 gg. theater became a fixed and settled in Odessa. In the period of 1939 -1994 years. the theater was called the pilot V. Chkalov.
Nicholas Artistic Russian Drama Theatre - is steadily and surely working group, which successfully solves all the creative and production tasks that rely on the fine traditions of their predecessors.
