Valle delle Ferriere Waterfalls located in the eponymous Nature Reserve near the town of Amalfi, one of the most popular resorts in Italy. Attraction is not really known, because when talking about Amalfi Coast to mind in the first place come the magical beauty of the coast with dozens of cozy villages, magnificent cathedrals, ancient palaces and monuments of history and architecture of the great maritime republic Amalfi. But aside from all this, there are many other interesting places and natural reserve "Valle delle Ferriere" - one of them. It is just above Amalfi and get into its territory easily, just a short walk from the city center.

Valle delle Ferriere - it's an amazing place, which at first sight captivates visitors with its landscapes and wildlife. Across the territory of the reserve is the river Canneto, which creates amazing waterfalls and small ponds, spring becoming a mecca for bathers. It is because of such reserve Canneto vegetation lush and varied. Here you can see a variety of colorful species of orchids, known for its large leaves Woodward and volosistotsvetkovuyu pinguicula - Carnivorous plants, feeding on small insects. The most common fauna of the reserve is the otter. And, of course, an incredibly diverse bird kingdom these places.

The territory of Valle delle Ferriere is famous not only for its natural heritage but also monuments of human activity. So, in the heart of the valley, there is still a few old mills, which today are already out of work. In the past, they produce food in the first place - the pasta. Here you can also find many traces of one of the most important and profitable sectors of the economy of medieval Amalfi - paper production. The paper made by special technology, the foundations of which were borrowed from the Arabs. To date, around Amalfi operates 16 paper mills, but only two of them are open to visitors. And then there are the Museum of the paper, which is located in a historic mill.

At the top of the Valle delle Ferriere can find the ruins of another ancient plant, the so-called "opifichio." Once upon a time it was carried out almost all of the iron, which was used by traders Amalfi Republic. And it hence the name of the valley - in Italian language it sounds like Iron Valley.
