House officers of the fleet - an architectural monument of national importance the city of Nikolayev. This building was built in 1824 by order of the chief commander of the Black Sea Fleet and ports, military governor of Nikolayev and Sevastopol Admiral A. Greig, and at first was known as House leader and commander. Here naval officers had the opportunity to gather families hold various receptions, meetings, balls, concerts. It was placed a library and a cadet classes and a music school.

In his time in the House of flagships and commanders of his lectures read Andrei Antonovich Gorenko - the father of the famous poet Anna Akhmatova, gave concerts of famous composers MP Mussorgsky, NA Rimsky-Korsakov. August 30, 1890 in the house hosted a reception on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Nikolayev.

Since 1924 flagships and commanders of the House is called the House of Culture sailor, and in the postwar period was called the House of officers of the Navy and the center of culture, leisure and education of Naval Forces of Ukraine.

In 2004, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to transfer the house naval officers in the regional municipal property. The authorities wanted to accommodate a historic building at the regional philharmonic society, but because of lack of funds to repair the roof of the House of the state of emergency officers of the fleet, which is why the house has received significant damage from the set goals had to be abandoned. City authorities for quite a long time, negotiated the transfer of the building to the city municipal property, and in August 2010 it was transferred to the City Office for Culture and Protection of Cultural Heritage.

In the near future, the House of officers in the Navy plans to convert Nicholas People's House, and then it should become a center of recreation, culture and socializing residents of the city of Nikolayev.
