Church of Sts. Archangel Michael in Veliki Preslav is located in a small beautiful park in the center of the city. The facade is a tiny part of the right side of Sofia Memorial Church of St. Alexander Nevsky.

The foundation of the church was laid in 1908, but in 1912-1913 on the Balkan War, construction was halted. Then gradually work resumed, but prevented another war - World War I provoked it and the lack of funds for further construction of the church. Residents of Veliki Preslav began to collect money on their own, using any means - different types of donations, collecting signatures on petitions and even caroling. Such actions apply not only to the city but also in the surrounding villages. Taking any building material, often used in the construction work of the volunteers.

In 1930 the construction of the church was completed, and in 1931 it was consecrated by Metropolitan Joseph. From this point in the church begins to conduct worship services. Work on the mural in the church under the guidance of Professor Nikolai Rostovtsev was completed in 1951. Many of the icons of the church are part of the history of Veliki Preslav and date back to King Boris I and the formation of Orthodoxy as the state religion in Bulgaria. In 1952 he created a new carved iconostasis group of artists led by Professor Peter Kushlevym. The funds for this work are also collected inhabitants of Veliki Preslav.
