Automobile Museum in Mulhouse is one of Europe's largest collections of vintage cars. It is located on the outskirts of the city in the hangar, and consists of three huge rooms, which feature approximately 600 cars 98 brands, including the most famous - "Mercedes", "Renault", "Ferrari", "Maserati". Most of the collection (about 150) make cars "Bugatti", from which, in fact, began the collection of this museum.

The first car in this collection appeared in the collection of the brothers Shlyumpf before the start of World War II. The brothers owned a textile manufacturing and, thanks to the successful state of affairs in the entire textile industry, it could not afford to buy rare cars and restore them. After the Second World War, they were able to buy back a lot of cars "Bugatti", including the personal collection of the brand's founder Ettore Bugatti, as well as meeting other collectors. Of greatest interest to Giovanni Fritz Shlyumpf cars were issued during the period from 1878 to the middle of the XX century.

However, in the 70 years of crisis in the textile industry has shaken the welfare Shlyumpf brothers and themselves forced to flee to Switzerland. Their car hangar where he kept the cars and were working to restore them, broke workers. To save a unique collection of vandalism in the hangar opened a museum. There are many who want to buy part of the fabulously expensive collection Shlyumpf brothers, so the state took her under his wing, giving it the status of a historical monument.

In 2000, the museum was carried out renovation, and the collection was divided into three thematic parts: car history, the history of motor racing and the masterpieces of the world automotive industry.

In addition, the museum can see the cars, the owners of which were world stars - such as Charlie Chaplin, Elvis Presley and Sophia Loren. There is also a large collection of figurines, which were installed on the car hood, a collection of children's cars, there is a stand dedicated to assembly production.
