One of the amazing churches Novaya Ladoga devoted to Clement of Rome and Peter of Alexandria. The first historical sources describing Clement church records began, according to which in 1153 was the inception of the church as a cathedral. This event was due to Archbishop of Novgorod Nifont. After some time, built of stone cathedral was demolished and in its place built a wooden church. In 1703, a wooden church was moved to the New Ladoga, because originally it was in the Poconos.

Between 1741 and 1743 years at the previous location of the wooden church of St. Clement, Pope of Rome and St. Peter of Alexandria was built of stone. The necessary funds were allocated noble Novoladozhskye merchant Dmitry Konstantinov Irodionovichem. Completion of the church was made in the form of a small onion shaped cupola. Church bell tower was equipped with stolpoobraznoe. His consecration took place on 18 August 1743.

A distinctive feature of the church of St. Clement became an inherent asceticism of external decoration, which was not typical of the Baroque, dominant during the reign of Elizabeth. Today gilded iconostasis, made of wood, as well as the icons, especially valuable for its time, were lost. Unable to save the image and the ancient temple of St. Clement of Rome and the icons of the apostles St. Peter and the two martyrs, which were written in 1761 as intended by Archbishop Demetrios Sechenov.

Wooden spire located in the bell tower, collapsed due to disrepair from a strong hurricane in 1811, but over the 1818-1820-ies was restored thanks to the efforts churchwarden EE Yaroslavtseva - a new spire is now located on the iron rafters. In the same period of time it was decided to whitewash the temple, and the cupola of the church with warm brass plated iron, after which they built a new cross covered with gold leaf.

In the summer, in late July, the parish visited Novgorod and St. Petersburg Metropolitan Isidor of St. Nicholas. To mark the occasion by the architect and engineer KV Fortunatova was repaired the temple. Leaders of the works took the mayor and the priest Nikifor Stolyarov Verolsky. In a short period of time the temple has changed considerably, with new altar was built and oak throne and completely renovated built in the shape of a hexagon on a small part of the bell tower with a spire and dome completion, located on the west side.

The church received a lot of donations, among which it is worth noting gifts from merchant Yevseyev Kovrigina and Princess, as well as an expensive gift in the form of an altar cross from Princess Fedorova. The church interior was coined by architect K. Fortunatov who made detailed sketches. Icons included in carved gilded iconostasis were painted by the artist Kolchin. June 30th, 1878 renovated church was consecrated by Archbishop Dobronravin Hermogen.

In 1938, the Church of St. Clement was closed, although a great number of faithful citizens asked not to do, the government did not succumb to their influence. After a while, the church building converted into a city theater, though at first there had to accommodate repair shops under the unified name "Lengorrybtrest."

To date, there is not iconostasis, or interior of the church, because they have been destroyed in the 80-90s of the 20th century. While working in the building of the temple from the factory shop "Lakond" Spassky church acted a fish shop at Novoladozhsky plant. Thus, in the early 1990s, the room is completely empty and began to crumble. Preserved only some fragmentary paintings in the dome and in the dilapidated walls, made in the academic style - painted Christmas, Assumption, St. Mary Magdalene, Christ Pantocrator, bodiless heavenly powers.

Currently, the church is not being used.
