National Park Kaeng Krachai is the largest in Thailand, most of the polarity he deserved because of the well-known resort of Hua Hin, located nearby. It is included in the list of natural heritage parks of ASEAN in 2005, also filed an application to make Kaeng Krachai is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so far it is still pending.

Officially Kaeng Krachai was recorded June 12, 1981 and became the 28th national park of Thailand. Originally, its area was 2478 square kilometers, but it was expanded after December 27, 1984 included in its area of ​​the border area between the provinces of Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan.

The park consists mainly of tropical rain forests on the slopes of the mountain range Tenasserim, the height of the highest peak of which is 1200 meters. On the territory of Kaeng Krachai two rivers: Phetchaburi and Pranburi. The dam was built in 1996 on the eastern border of the national park, a lake area of ​​46, 5 sq.km.

In the forests of Kaeng Krachai grows a huge collection of various trees, including oak, chestnut, maple, and even palm trees. It is home to 57 species of mammals, including gibbons, tigers and deer, and more than 400 species of tropical birds.

Earlier in the national park is home to many wild elephants, but their number has now decreased significantly. Local authorities are unable to control poaching, according to some reports they are involved in the illegal trade in body parts of animals.
