The White House - an architectural monument of 17-18 centuries, which for a long time was the family residence of the Transylvanian princes Rakoczy, leaving a significant mark on the history of the city. Today, the palace is surrounded by more recent urban development, but previously it was the architectural dominant in this area of ​​the city.

Construction began in 67 the 17th century, and for nearly a century palace looked completely different than today: a one-story building was built of natural stone in the Baroque style, square in plan, with an open gallery. A distinctive feature of the palace - the white facade - was the cause of people's "nickname" the White House. In the 20s of the 18th century the owners of the castle became the Austrian Count Schonborn, spending it serious reconstruction, the result of which became the present appearance of buildings. The reconstruction took place under the leadership of Austrian architect JB Neumann. In the course of the doors has acquired U-shaped plan, second floor, natural stone brickwork supplemented and joined to a lush Baroque features easier Renaissance. It was also supplemented by decoration on the main entrance of the elegant Baroque portal and an open staircase.

Despite a thorough renovation, many elements of the original buildings are preserved: cross vaults, décor moldings for windows and interior framing, stone window and door openings. Access to the residence is preceded by a beautiful wrought iron gate with a massive fence.
