Museum of VA Tropinin and Moscow Artists of his time is now serving in Schetininskom alley. Based Museum FE Vishnevsky in 1969.
The museum building - restored manor Petukhova merchant located between Bolshaya Ordynka and Big meadow. The estate was built in the early 19th century. The complex includes a manor buildings surviving wooden outbuilding built in 1883. The fire of 1812 manor house was severely damaged and was rebuilt. At the newly built stone houses were wooden mezzanine and an outbuilding. Entrance to the building was designed in the form of the portico, which is its architectural feature. Inside the house is preserved cast iron staircase mid-19th century.
The building has always been in private hands. Descendant Petukhov - polar explorer Nikolai Petukhov - gave the building FE Wisniewski. Wisniewski, along with his collection, donated to the museum house. Vishnevsky collection consisted of about 250 works of art. Incoming estate complex in a wooden house, decorated with carved eaves, and today is owned by descendants of the collector. The house is a monument to the history of culture.
The museum exhibition devoted to Russian art of the first half of the 19th century. The museum opened in 2011, nine years after the repair of the old building. Over the years it has been restored more than two hundred paintings and objects included in the exhibition. The grand opening took place on March 18 and was timed to the birthday of VA Tropinin.
The core of the exhibition are the work of Tropinin. On display are also paintings of the Moscow artists of the late 18th - early 19th century: Ivan Vishnyakov, Ivan Argunov, Alexei Antropov, Dmitry Levitsky, Fyodor Rokotoff, Vladimir Borovikovsky, Alexander Bryullov Kiprensky and Orestes. During the 40 years of the museum, its collection has increased almost tenfold.
