Ostrog monastery - acting Serbian Orthodox monastery in Montenegro. It is situated in the mountains, at an altitude of about 900 meters, and the nearest city - Danilovgrad - 15 kilometers.

The monastery was founded in the XVII century, since the days are relics of its founder - Basil of Ostrog. Miracle Worker, died April 29, 1671. Today, in the monastery of twelve monks live.

Jail is divided into two parts: the Lower and Upper Monastery. Lower founded in the XIX century and it includes cells and the church of St. Trinity. The relics of the holy martyr Stanko, a boy of fifteen, buried here: the Turks cut off both his arms as the child did not want to let the Holy Cross.

Upper monastery of Lower separates the road passing through the forest five kilometers long. Pilgrims moving to the destination on foot, most often used by short - so the distance to the monastery can be overcome in 20 minutes.

The upper part is located directly to the two-tier niche in the rock, and this is where the key attractions of the monastery. It includes a couple of small temples: Vvedensky (XVIII century) and the Cross (1665).

Vvedenskaya church - a small-sized temple, he is a little above Cross. Here St. Basil spent fifteen years of his life in prayer. Image-founder of the monastery icon decorates one of the walls of the temple, but the temple has a reliquary ark that holds the miraculous relics of St. Basil. There is also preserved temple candleholders 1779 and 1732 prayer book.

The monastery complex is located at a distance from Podgorica 30km to the west. Geographically it covers the foot of the cliff Ostroshka Grad. Eight kilometers from this place there is a road connecting Podgorica and Niksic.
