Belarusian Great Patriotic War Museum - the largest in Belarus memorial complex dedicated to the liberation war of the Belarusian people against the fascist invaders. The uniqueness of the museum lies in the fact that the material for the museum began collecting during the war itself. The decision to start collecting materials was accepted June 2, 1942 Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Belarus. For this special commission was created.

The doors of the museum opened in October 1944. The exposition of the museum was located in the House of Unions on the streets of Liberty - one of the few survivors after the war, the building of Minsk. The museum has become a symbol for the new post-war citizens of Minsk, a symbol of hope. In a specially constructed building on the central square of the museum moved in 1966. Next to the building of the museum has created a unique exhibition of military equipment.

Today we can see the open-minded slice of history and unique documents, items that terrible time in the life of the country. We can estimate the immortal feat of all people who have risen to fight the fascist armies. The museum fully conveys the disturbing atmosphere of wartime. You can see the photographs, paintings and drawings by professional artists soldiers, uniforms, banners, weapons, military equipment and items collected during the war itself. A large part of the exhibition is devoted to the Belarusian partisan movement. Here you can see portraits of the guerrillas, weapons, household items, illustrated magazines partisan.

Currently, the exhibition is replenished with exhibits, shows no earlier for ideological reasons: clothing and personal belongings of the German military, items telling about the military life of the common people, the evidence of reprisals by the guerrillas and other facts of default previously.

The role of the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War is extremely important nowadays for the patriotic education of youth, the younger generation to remember the feats of their grandparents.
