Mausoleum of Sidi mahrez - is the burial place of Mohammed Abu mahrez Es Sadiki, one of the main Islamic holy patron Tunisia. It was he who in the beginning of the XIX century, coming from Arya (north of Tunis), gathered in the main square of citizens and inspire them with words, that all the men of the city, not relying on the state, to restore at least some of the ancient architectural monuments destroyed during the numerous wars with neighboring countries, mainly Turkey, prevailing in Tunisia at this time. After the death of the preacher in 1862 the grateful residents of the city built the mausoleum.

The mausoleum is located in El Hafsa in the north of the main and most of the old town square. The building of the mausoleum of Sidi mahrez a discreet appearance, which is typical for the eastern burial structures of the Ottoman style. The peculiarity of this building - nine domes. Above the main room of the building is a large white dome, on either side of him are four smaller dimensions and four - on the edges of the roof of the mausoleum. Attached to the mosque ornate prayer hall and a small green garden. The tomb was built in the Islamic style and decorated with paintings inside and script, which in turn lends stately building. Outside the mausoleum painted white - the color of purity and truth of faith.
