Luoyang Museum of Ancient Tombs - a unique museum, which was the first of its kind in China. Located in the suburbs of Luoyang, and, in addition to the main building in the museum complex also includes a pavilion with the necessary information regarding the most important archaeological finds.
The main building of the museum tourists can see reproduced with maximum accuracy tombs of each particular epoch, from the Han Empire to the Song Dynasty.
Exhibits showing the ancient tombs, are a collection of clay figurines that were found near the sarcophagus, as well as dishes with a drink and a meal. In this case, the figures represent the deceased servants, concubines, guards, pet and guardian spirits. Each statuette worked out in detail by professionals. According to ancient Chinese beliefs, these tiny figures in the world to come to life again, and served the owner, as it was during his lifetime.
Going through the corridors of the museum of ancient tombs, one can note the evolution of the style of decoration of tombs. For example, for the Tang Dynasty was typical cover statues polychrome glaze, which allowed them to retain to this day pristine brightness of colors. But towards the end of the Tang era figures began to make more primitive, and then they all disappear from the burial tradition. But are replaced by colorful murals.
All the works presented in the museum - is skillfully executed copies of museum workers, which fully comply with the original findings. The originals can be seen in specially designated rooms of the museum behind glass windows.
