Donau-Auen - the largest national park in Austria, situated in Lower Austria. The park - 93 kilometers, it extends from Vienna to the border with Slovakia. He is one of the most valuable parks in Central Europe. It was founded October 27, 1996. Donau-Auen stretched the length of 38 kilometers and the width of the park at its widest point is 4 kilometers. The total area currently stands at more than 9,300 hectares, of which around 65% of riparian forests, 15% - meadows, and about 20% - water.

The Reserve of more than 700 different species of plants, 30 species of mammals and over 100 species of birds. In addition, the park is home to about 13 species of amphibians, 50 species of fish, and 8 species of reptiles. Among the typical inhabitants of the reserve can be identified crested newt, European sea turtles and otters. In total, the park is home to over 5,000 animals. Also in the park is very diverse flora - there grow more than 800 plant species, including valuable species of orchids.

In the park there are guided tours, seminars, meetings of professionals and nature lovers. Central Information Point Nature Reserve is located in the castle Orth. For active recreation in the park provided a great bike route that begins in Passau.
