Staro Stefanovo - Architectural Reserve, located about twenty kilometers from the town of Lovech severobolgarskogo. This small village, which has retained its historical appearance almost unchanged.

About twenty years ago, this town was declared a nature reserve. There are about hundreds of ancient houses that were built in the early 19th century. They are quite randomly located because of the uneven terrain, close streets and broken. Residents in the village a little bit, there are no hotels and souvenir shops.

According to the preserved historical information, Staro Stefanovo established residents of a nearby village, when fleeing from the plague. They built houses, which were mostly two-story, wood and stone. The first floor was occupied by shops, workshops and other public facilities, the second floor was used as living quarters. Houses are traditionally surrounded by high stone walls. Monuments in Staro Stefanovo announced on 96 homes.

At the center of the village is the church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is skillfully executed iconostasis. The hand of the same master also owned the painting facades of the local buildings, mostly plant motifs. A characteristic feature of the houses are so-called "Tickle" - the stone slabs that covered the roof.

In the central square of Staro Stefanovo is a small shop where you can buy products and some other products. There is also a small tavern, the walls of which are painted different phrases - this is the work of travelers, as well as filmmakers, who often find themselves in these lands, attracted by the authentic atmosphere of the Bulgarian Revival. Staro Stefanovo often becomes a backdrop for historical films.
