Karst spring-head is Panega near village of Zlatna Panega, in the municipality of Jablanica. The water temperature at the source is 8, 4 - 15, 4 degrees Celsius. Zlatna Panega River, originates in this source. The water collects in the reservoir, which is divided into two parts (east and west, the smaller size), between which the road to the village of Brestnitsa.

Near the western part there are two caves: Gorna and Dolna Dupka. Scientists believe that in the past the water was from one of these caves. But due to the karst processes power has shifted to its present location.

As a result, hydrogeological studies, it was concluded that the most likely source of the waters of the river Vit go. Place water flow is below the level of the lake, over the years he could not disclose. Not far from the Golden-Panega are several sources of warm water with a temperature of about 20º C. The water in the lakes is colored in cyan due to dissolved calcium carbonate in it.

In the early 20th century in the vicinity of the source of archaeological excavations were carried out, due to which it has been proved that the source is located near the Roman sanctuary. In the field at the head-Panega found ritual tiles, which depicts the god of medicine, Asclepius and his daughter and son Gigiey Telesforo.

In ancient times it was believed that the water source has healing properties, and in the lake lives a god to help patients who drink the water or bathe in it. People from different places come to the source of the cure. Until now, preserved the tradition of throwing coins Asclepius.
