The museum of European art in the palace Potocki - is not only a famous architectural landmark, but also one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. The palace was built by architect Ludwig van Verney in 1880 commissioned by the Polish magnates Potocki.
The palace has a magnificent view, its architecture resembles the French castles in the classical style. Three floors of the palace with attics are made of brick, covered with stucco, and richly decorated with stucco, balustrades, small sculpture. No less impressive look inside the room - stucco, gilding, inlaid with precious stones, the use of expensive varieties of wood, painting - all this makes a magnificent staterooms. The project is also intended to place a palace for the "parking" of crews and meeting rooms for guests. Until 1879 around the palace is a huge park, but later the street was built numerous buildings, and today the views of the Palace of Potocki remained open only on one side.
After the war, the palace was given to the needs of the Institute of Geology. And since 1974 there acting Palace solemn events (or, more simply, the Lviv city registry office). In 2000, Potocki Palace opened its exposure Lviv Art Gallery. Here the exposition "European art XVI-XVIII century", which includes an impressive collection of samples of art in Europe. On the ground floor of the museum you can admire preserved to our times chic interiors and examples of antique furniture. No less noteworthy is the Hall of Mirrors.
