Biogradska mountain - a unique nature reserve in Montenegro, which is still referred to as the Princely reserve. This is due to the fact that in 1878, Prince Nikola Petrovic appreciated the uniqueness and beauty of this place, ordered to guard him. The territory was donated to him after Kolasin was liberated from the Turks. In 1952, the Biogradska Gora was granted the status of national park proportions.

Reserve is located in the north-east of Kolasin, between the deep rivers Tara and Lim in the center of the mountain range. Its total area is 54 square meters, including 1600 hectares of virgin forest, the six glacial lakes and mountain tops and slopes. The highest point - a famous mountain Crna Glava, it is at the level of 2139 meters.

Primeval forest grows at different altitudes (850-1800 m). To date, scientists have identified 86 species of native trees in the reserve. Some species reach the age of more than a thousand years, and a width of girth - up to one and a half meters. Among the hardwoods in the park there are beeches, maples, lindens. Conifers presented juniper, fir and mountain pine. Also can meet elms and yews.

Flora and fauna Biogradska Mountain impresses with its diversity: more than 2000 species of animals and over 200 species of birds. Among others, in the nature reserve inhabited by a variety of insects, amphibians, reptiles and fish.

Among the wide meadows scattered Katun Reserve - a pasture with small shepherd huts and pens specifically for cattle. In addition, there can also see other traditional buildings such as water mills, log houses, and special mountain hut called "savardaki."

As for reservoirs, the largest in the park is Biogradsko Lake, which is located at an altitude of 1094 meters above sea level. In the depths of this glacial lake reaches 12, 1 meter.

The Tara River and Lake Biogradska home to a huge number of different species of fish, including: minnow, trout, arctic char, grayling and Danube salmon Europe.

Another lake that follows the largest Biogradska - lake Pesitsa. In addition, it is worth to see lakes and other nature reserves: Small and Large Ursulovatskie, Small and Large Sisk.
