Museum-estate of the artist NAJaroshenko is one of the most extensive collection of works by artists of the Wanderers in Russia. The museum was opened in 1962, this huge collection of works of outstanding artists and NAJaroshenko N.A.Kasatkina.
Old mansion, which today houses the museum, once visited prominent figures in Russia, among them the AI Kuindzhi, DI Mendeleev, IE Repin, FI Chaliapin. In the summer of 1802 I visited here and Nikolai Yaroshenko and his wife. The atmosphere in the house, and indeed the rest in Kislovodsk, liked Yaroshenko, and he has not come back here again. And in 1885 he bought the estate of the owner of Lieutenant General MG Chernyaeva. Here the outstanding painter of his time and met the last days of life. He was buried near the garden, on the territory of St. Nicholas Cathedral.
In 1918 it was decided to rename the street where there was a summer residence, in honor of Marxism, and in the room to open the museum . But these plans were not implemented . Soon the house was converted into a municipal housing, and in the 30s it was decided to demolish the cathedral and the elimination of the cemetery . The cathedral was destroyed but the locals defended the preservation of the grave Yaroshenko . And only in 1959, with the filing of the artist in . AT . Seklyutskogo, RSFSR Council of Ministers, it was decided to organize a museum . Materials for Kislovodsk Museum were transferred from the State Russian Museum, Poltava, Kyiv museums . Most of the exhibits were works Yaroshenko from the private collections of Russian collectors . The grand opening of the museum was held in 1962 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nesterov - philanthropist, gave the museum an impressive collection of works Yaroshenko . At the same time, until 1986 in a wing of the museum were living tenants, who were later resettled .
Today, the museum refunded all the land near the manor garden. In the wing opened the exhibition of works II Levitan, LK Savrasov, VG Perov, LI Kuindzhi, PL Bryullov, II Shishkin.
