Chimera House was built by architect Gorodetsky in 1903 at the former bank of the drained marshes goat. Many at the time thought the madness to begin construction on a cliff - and therefore the house was initially shrouded in legend say that Gorodetsky undertook the construction of a bet with other architects, argues that it is impossible to build such a cliff.

According to figures Gorodetsky Italian sculptor Elio Sala decorated the facade and interiors whimsical sculptures - sea monsters and exotic animals. There is a legend that the sea monsters on the facade is a tribute to the architect of his daughter drowned in the sea.

In a newly built house architect occupied one floor, the rest of the apartment to rent. In spite of the very high price rebound from customers was not. In 1913, Gorodetsky has sold his mansion and the following years the house changed its owners, but in the end the building was nationalized after the revolution. Some time during the Soviet era the house was a communal apartment, then it made a hospital of the Central Committee of the Communist Party.

In 2003-2004, the "House with Chimeras" was restored: a fully restored interior of a building, including parquet flooring and painting. After the restoration of "The House with chimeras" Minor became the residence of the President of Ukraine receptions.

On the basis of the house Gorodetsky built museum and cultural center of the "Masterpieces of Art of Ukraine" as a branch of the National Museum. The exhibition center features works of fine art, sculpture, decorative and applied art from the collections of leading museums in stock in Ukraine.
