Kharkov State Zoo is the most famous and oldest zoo in Ukraine. Officially it was founded in 1896 and opened to visitors in 1903. In 1896. on the site of today's zoo was only a small exhibition of pets and birds. Occasionally, the exhibition is enriched by some wild animals, which were brought from nearby residents and the surrounding villages. Also this place was a huge apiary.

In 1906, after the construction of the aquarium began the modern history of the zoo. Zoological Park was established according to the type of Moscow. But during the Civil War, he was almost completely destroyed. This caused a lot of damage, as the animals and the zoo itself. In 1922 the park was restored him again, and there are guided tours. In 1924, the zoo becomes a zoo.

The area of ​​the zoo is 22 hectares, there are more than 7,700 animals. The zoo is stored and studied wildlife representatives from all continents. In addition, the Kharkiv Zoo - cultural and educational institutions, since it carried out various tours are given advice on matters relating to the protection of wildlife and nature.

Kids in the zoo very much. For them, everything is here - and rides, and children's cafe, and playgrounds. No less interesting is the aviary, where everyone can look after the smallest animals.

In the zoo you can see the brown and polar bears, foxes, monkeys, elephants, hippos, horses and many other birds and predators, including the animals listed in the Red Book.
