The Archaeological Museum in the town of Khajuraho will not leave anyone indifferent. The museum was established on the basis of the whole system of ancient temples that are adorned with a large number of incredibly beautiful, elaborately carved statues and sculptures. The age of these facilities totals about 1,000 years. They were built during the reign of the powerful dynasty Chandella in X-XII centuries. In total there were about 84 churches, but has survived only 22. Thanks largely to this temple, which is called the Kama Sutra temples, the town of Khajuraho is a very popular destination among tourists from all over the world. But the creation of the Archaeological Museum also contributed to the popularization of this region.

It lays the foundations for the museum in 1910 . E .  Dzherdin, the representative of the British Government in India .  Then there was the unique collection of works of art found in the territory of Khajuraho and the surrounding area .  They were mostly statues that previously adorned the walls of the temples, but eventually sprinkle .  They have been installed at the site near the western group of temples and surrounded by a fence .  Later, in 1967, it was built the current building of the museum, which contains exhibits that are the cultural heritage of an era .  The vast hall of the museum is divided into several thematic galleries, which placed values ​​found in Khajuraho .  One of the main attractions of the museum is a statue of a dancing god Ganesha with elephant head .  Its trunk swinging from side to side, and it seems that the statue really moves .  In the museum you can also see the unique statues of Buddha, Vishnu, Lakshmi, Surya .  The collection of exhibits is constantly updated as the territory of Khajuraho are still being excavated .
