Panovetsky Castle is Panivtsy village near the town of Kamenetz-Podolsk in Khmelnitsky region. Today, the castle ruins of some buildings, the northwestern outer towers and defensive walls.
The castle is situated on a high rocky hill above the river Smotrych. It is at this point was erected reinforcement, likely in the second half of the 15th century. In the middle of the 16th century owner of the castle becomes Kamenetskii elder Nicholas Potocki, which has strengthened this building. Later, his son Jan Potocki, who was Bratslav voivode started the construction of a new lock with the old walls and graduated in 1590. Castle had thick walls, large caves and deep ditches. Panovtsy at that time had the status of a city.
According to the planned configuration, the castle was square. Between the two outer quadrangular towers along the north wall was a two-storey palace. On the inside of the south side also has two small square towers, built near them Collegium building with two-story entrance gate, and to the south-west tower with time built a printing house, which was later reconstructed into a chapel. Also, when the castle was built by the school with the Academy, which had a few classes. The entire complex was surrounded by a moat and ramparts.
During the Polish-Cossack War, the castle was devastated. Only in the 18th century it was partially restored. Up to the present time the ruins of the palace, as well as the north-western quadrangular tower and the outer part of the defensive wall of the castle. Northwest quadrangular tower, which acute angle is much in favor of the line of defensive walls, lined with sandstone.
