One of the architectural decoration is modern Kaliningrad Villa Schmidt, was built in 1903 and is a clear example of Art Nouveau. Red brick building with rich stucco reliefs and bears the name of the first owner of the mansion.

District Amalienau (nowadays - Oktyabrsky) appeared in the city of Konigsberg in the second half of the nineteenth century thanks to Gustav Schnell, lined on a large plot of land estate. The estate was named after the wife of Gustov - Amelie, which gave the name to turn the whole area. Buildings Amalienau carried out mainly by wealthy citizens of Konigsberg, and the design of buildings belonged to famous architects: G.Hopp, P.Brostovsky, F.Haytmann, F.Lars. What exactly belongs to the project architect Villas Schmidt not known for certain.

Villa Schmidt, as well as all the mansions Amalienau, is an original brick building with a beautiful asymmetrical shapes decorated in the romantic style of the turn of 19-20 centuries. The architectural structure is lavishly decorated with elements of vegetable ornament, bas-reliefs depicting the human face and a lion's head. The shape of the roof defines a curved pediment, flowing to a higher turret and interrupted in the middle a small gallery. Today Villa Schmidt preserved in excellent condition (of the original appearance of vanished just spire on the tower).

In the prewar years, the mansion offers Konigsberg branch of the construction company Philipp Holzmann. After the war, the building was an internal re-planning, and in 1949 settled in a villa kindergarten №27, valid to this day. Since 2007 Villa Schmidt has the status of an object of cultural heritage (regional level).
