In the historic center of Kaliningrad, on the contrary Kronprinz defensive barracks, it is the largest bastion Grolmanskogo top front-fired redyuitom. The defensive structure was built in 1851, designed by the military engineer Ernst Ludwig von Aster and named in honor of the Prussian army reformer, a member of the Napoleonic Wars - General Karl Wilhelm von Grolman.

During the assault of Koenigsberg bastion he remained one of the last pockets of resistance and suffered considerable destruction. In the postwar period it has been adapted for vegetable storage, in the early nineties most were conserved. In March 2007, the bastion has received the status of cultural heritage (regional level). Today Bastion "Grolman" remained almost intact, exterior part of the building is occupied by commercial organizations, external parties are available for viewing. Defensive structures is an example of the construction of the fortress the mid-nineteenth century.
