Sullivan Bay - one of the most popular destinations among residents of Hobart where you can not only relax but also to work out a variety of sports. The bay, which is important in the history of Hobart, located on the banks of the River Derwent.

It is here that Lieutenant David Collins in 1804 founded the first European settlement in Tasmania, which eventually turned into Hobart. Collins then sailed along the shores of the Derwent River to the island of Hunter Island. Later, the island was connected to the shore, now known as the Droga Street Hunter Street. Collins also gave its name to the cove after John Sullivan, a permanent deputy secretary of the colony. A local Aborigines called Niberluner bay.

Once located in Sullivan Bay salt factories, slaughterhouses and even dump, but today there is a marina Macquarie, which serves as the main port of Hobart. Interestingly, there remain many historic buildings, for example, the School of Arts of the University of Tasmania.
