Strzelno - the Polish city, located 18 km south of Inovratslava. The base of the city is connected with the person of Peter Vlostovicha - Duke Boleslaw III. He is considered the founder of the Church of the Holy Cross in Strzelno. The settlement appeared here after the arrival of the nuns in the eighties of the twelfth century. The monastery church was originally called the Church of the Holy Trinity, but in later years the name was changed to the Holy Trinity and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Strzelno received municipal rights in 1231.
During the partition of Polish territory Stshelno came under the rule of Prussia and some time called Strelna (1875-1920). The city was liberated during the Wielkopolska Uprising January 2, 1919. In the early twentieth century Strzelno was quite successful economically city. In 1901 there was open the gas plant, who worked for 60 years. In the same period, the city has built a large number of residential buildings and urban infrastructure: there was a regional hospital and a library.
The main attractions include a unique Stshelno Rotunda of St. Procopius - Romanesque church built in 1133. In 1945, the Germans had set up in the rotunda of the explosion that destroyed the dome, the top of the tower and most of the interior, while the walls are preserved. The reconstruction, which began in the fifties of the twentieth century, lasted until the beginning of this century.
Besides the rotunda, it deserves attention in Strzelno Church of the Holy Trinity and the Blessed Virgin Mary, as well as buildings in the city center.
