Corral de Carbon, or as it is called Coal Yard, located in Granada, near the cathedral, in the street Maria Pineda. This former Muslim inn, which was built during the reign of the Nasrid dynasty until 1336.
Corral de Carbon is an old building with a courtyard, the entrance to which is in the Mudejar style. Once upon a time it served as a shelter for the merchants and traders who stopped here on duty. In addition, there was situated the city market. When in 1531 the inn was sold at auction, it was used as a coal storage, after a while in the Corral de Carbon was established guest house.
Throughout the 20th century Corral de Carbon restored several times. In 1933, after its acquisition by the state - the project Leopoldo Torres Belbasa in 1992 - under the direction of architect Rafael Soler Marquez. In 2006, again carried out extensive restoration work, which cost the state in the 56 th. Euros.
Extraordinarily beautiful main entrance, in the form of an arch, decorated with amazing moldings from plaster. In the courtyard is the lobby, which is crowned by a dome decorated with swirls. The building yard consists of three floors, each of which has a gallery with stone columns.
Currently, the premises of Corral de Carbon is the cultural council of Andalusia and Granada Orchestra.
In 1918, the Corral de Carbon was declared a national historic monument.
