Renaissance Vyzhinna Brama (in Russian - "Upper" or "upland Gate") is located on the street Yagellonske shafts, which appeared on the site of the buried city moat, to the XIX century the surrounding town of Gdansk. Together with a moat filled with water, were destroyed and earthworks. Gates once served a pass into the city from the west side, considered the beginning of the contingent of the Royal Route, leading to the green gate. Here, residents gathered to greet the rulers arriving triumphantly through Brahma Vyzhinnu.
The gate, built by the type of triumphal are the main fare, and two side aisles. Over their shape and design work in the years 1571-1576 Saxon architect Hans Kramer. Making facades belongs Willem van den Block.
Chief of Brahma Vyzhinnoy frieze decorated with several coats of arms, among which are the emblem of the Kingdom of Prussia, the Polish state, or to be more precise, the coat of arms of Poniatowski, and the city of Gdansk. Bas with coats of arms can be seen on many buildings and structures of the city, but on the top of the gate, they look the most impressive and striking for its size.
On the original existence of a defensive moat resemble devices still are at the gate. With their help, once set in motion three bridges that were passed over by a moat 50 meters wide.
The wise sayings in Latin, praising fair decision-makers for the prosperity of the Commonwealth, complement the decor.
The reverse side of the gate is also adorned with the coat of arms, it is true, then you can see the symbol of Prussian Hohenzollern.
