Cistercian church of the Holy Trinity, Precvyatoy Virgin Mary and St. Bernard, called Olive, and Oliwa Cathedral Basilica was founded in 1178. The story of his appearance dates back to the reign of Prince Subislava first. One day, while hunting, he was seriously wounded. Local farmer bandaged the wound, saving the life of the prince, and then Subislavu First appeared in a dream an angel with a branch of olive tree, and so it was decided to establish a church in the neighborhood called Oliva.

Catholic church was severely damaged by fire in 1350. Later it was rebuilt in the Gothic style. Temple survived the fire, and the second in 1577, and the interior rebuilt in the Baroque style.

Oliwa Basilica is one of the most popular architectural structures in Gdansk. It is the longest in Poland basilica, built in the shape of a Latin cross, with three naves and arches. Its length is 107 meters. The interior of the church is decorated with 23 altars. Special attention of tourists enjoying the wonderful organ complex, the largest in Europe at the end of the XVIII century. It is made in the Rococo style of the more than eight thousand organ pipes, tin and wood. Every year, from May to September you can enjoy the organ concerts with musical instruments of the XVIII century.

Near the Basilica stretched picturesque Oliwa Park, where there are interesting visitor structure - Palace abbots, monastery. The building of the monastery is a museum. This historic park is located on the territory of the monastery gardens. In it you can admire the plants from different parts of the world, rock, waterfall, grotto, an orangery, a pond with ducks and stunning hornbeam avenue XVII century. The park is permeated with a network of bicycle and walking paths.
