Artus Court in Gdansk was erected at the Town Hall Square in 1350. It was the residence of the most respected citizens - merchants, craftsmen, members of the brotherhoods, the members of patrician families. It boiled business and social life of the whole city, protected sculptures of lions that were kept in the clutches of the coat of arms. The building is decorated with a statue of Mercury - the patron saint of merchants, and figures, a symbol of strength, justice and Fortune.

The building suffered a fire in 1476, Courtyard restored in 1477 in the Gothic style, so is he now stands before us. Abraham van der Block rebuilt the facade, and on the medallions in the Mannerist portal images were kings. Georg Shteltsner decorated interior of the house 12-meter tiled stove (the largest in the world), lined and painted coats of arms, planets, characters and mythical kings of Europe master Jost. Respectable interior Artus Court also richly decorated with paintings, models of sailing ships, armor, knights, and various ornaments. In 1742 the palace became the stock exchange. In March 1945 the palace was destroyed, but restored in the postwar years, and still is a place for commemorative ceremonies city.

Before Artus Court since 1633 is the symbol of Gdansk - Neptune Fountain, established at the initiative of the then steward Bartolomeya Shamkhani. I designed it Abraham van der Block and manufactured fountain Johann Rogge and Peter Goosen of Augsburg. Athletic symbolic of God emphasizes the connection of the city to the sea. A year later, he began to surround luxurious fence. In 1761 the fountain chalice and plinth changed Johann Karl Stender, placing them a lot of sea creatures and monsters. According to legend, Neptune was angry that in a fountain throw coins for good luck. Trident struck it on the water, breaking the gold coins on the thin filaments. They shine in the famous Gdansk liqueurs and herbal infusion.
