The house was built in the Baroque style in the 18th century, it was named after its owner, Janos Butler, the hero of the story "The Strange marriage" Kálmán Mikszáth, one of the most famous Hungarian writers XIX-XX centuries.
The plot "strange marriage" lay the real story that took place in the late XVIII century, when Baron Dёri (Miksat kept the original names of the main actors) forcibly married Earl Butler on his daughter to hide the shame of her secret connection with the village priest, and Butler then for twenty years I could not get from the church authorities termination of this unhappy union.
Miksat heard this tradition from his colleagues, Member of Parliament Dezső Bernat, whose father, Zsigmond Bernat, was a friend of Butler and was present during the alleged forced marriage count. (In fact, J. Bernath was then only two years later, but he really made friends with Butler, despite the age difference.) Miksat also had the relevant archival documents, but use the official presentation of the sensational case only in general terms and is based substantially, at the version that was common among the people and was inspired by the liberal ideas of the period of the struggle for reforms (20-30 years of XIX century.).
In the Baroque building housed Institute deaf and boarding school. From 1949 to 1957 here settled the local museum. Later the building was used as a hostel, and is currently rented as offices.
