Spaso-Borodino nunnery - Orthodox monastery on the Borodino field, founded in 1839 M.M.Tuchkovoy widow A.A.Tuchkova killed at Borodino. At first there was a chapel on the spot where stood Bagration flushes, and where he died A.A.Tuchkov. In 1818-1820-xx years, the chapel was replaced by a stone church of Our Saviour.
Since the late 1820s. MM Tuchkov lived permanently on the field of Borodino, in a wooden house, the lodge at the church. Gradually it began to arrive widow of Russian soldiers who died at Borodino. Saviour Borodino Convent was closed in the late 1920s. Badly damaged the monastery and the fighting of 1941-1942. The restoration of the monastery began in 1972 and ended in 1987 mu. In the mid-1980s the monastery was already a small museum exhibition.
In the center stands the monastery of St. Vladimir's Cathedral, built in the middle of the XIX century in the Byzantine style. The majestic brick building decorated with white stone dedicated to the memory of Russian soldiers who died at Borodino. Refectory with the Church of St. John the Baptist was built in 1874. Single-storey housing cells, services, hospitals and old refectory is located along the walls of the monastery, partially replacing it with a fence.
