Hindu temple Pura Maospahit as the neighboring temple Dzhagatnahta are the most popular and visited the city of Denpasar.

Temple Pura Maospahit was built in the XIV century and is therefore considered the oldest in the city. The history of the church begins in the period of the Majapahit Empire, the last kingdom in Indonesia Indianize in XIII-XV centuries. This empire occupied the eastern part of Java Island as part of Indonesia, and the city was the capital of the empire of Majapahit. Built church was named in honor of the empire. Unfortunately, in 1917 an earthquake destroyed the building of the temple, but the temple was later restored. Unfortunately, in about 1520 the empire collapsed, and only those temples like Pura Maospahit are a reminder of that time, and have a high architectural value today.

The style of the temple is typical of the buildings, which were built at the peak of the Majapahit Empire - the temple is built of red brick. Pur Maospahit consists of two parts which are separated by a high wall. The main entrance to the temple is open only on major holidays. On weekdays, the temple can be accessed through the doors on the left side, but they are not always open for those who want to visit this architectural monument. The main gate of the temple is decorated with clay sculptures: fearsome guardians. At the temple statues of Garuda, a mythical bird that has been a favorite of the god Vishnu Batara Bayu, the son of the god of the wind. It should be noted that Garuda Indonesia has been popular since the earliest times, and today is a national symbol.
