In the small village of Chuvashia - Togaevo, founded in 1546 by Prince Chuvash Tugan, it is one of the most beautiful temples of Chuvashia.

The first wooden church in the village was built and consecrated in honor of the Archangel Michael in 1748. After two fires, it was decided to build a stone church. Since August 1907 the parish was Alexey Bogatyrev, versatile educated man. During one of his many trips to the capital city, on Togaevsky abbot is impressive Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow and Kiev-Pechersk courtyard in St. Petersburg. In 1910, the village began construction of a stone church on the design and estimate documentation Bogatyrev. In the construction of the magnificent temple of residents participated twelve villages that were part of the parish. Specially for this purpose built brick kiln (made from local clay), which is subsequently used for a long time residents of the village for the construction of their homes. All the work was done by hand and with the help of available funds.

In November of 1915, on the feast of St. Michael the Archangel in Togaevsky stone church held its first service. The name of the architect who designed the Archangel Michael temple remains unknown, but one thing is known for certain - Togaevsky unique architectural style church in Chuvashia was not there. The unique appearance of the temple adds figured treated brick on the facade. From the west to the five-domed church refectory and adjacent three-tiered bell tower. The rich decor of the facade is made in Russian-Byzantine style by using the method vsefasadnosti (all sides of the church equivalent). Niche eastern facade is decorated with icons of the Archangel Michael, and six of the Apostles, on the south side is the icon of the Mother of God, and on the north - Jesus Christ. Three-tiered tower with ancient bronze bells rises forty meters.

In 1930, during the mass destruction of places of worship on a hill around the church the faithful of the twelve villages was formed a living fence. Accelerate the parishioners who took strong hands, the Bolsheviks could not and the commissioner attempted to shoot down his own 115-pood bell. Suddenly, all the language-tipped bell struck with such force that the commissioner in front of all the participants flew out of the window and the bell tower fell on the porch of the temple. Further attempts to destroy the church, built by the people, was not. The rector AA Bogatyrev repeatedly persecuted and arrested, while in 1936 has not passed away. Follow the clergy in the Soviet years were also arrested and punished, but the church has always been open to the parishioners.
